The following telegram was received from Senator Reed Smoot today:
"If alternative arise, which would you prefer, sub committee or be subpoenaed here."
The following answer was sent:
"In one sense immaterial. Cheaper for government however if I go there, and this would perhaps be preferable to us if it would suffice. (Signed) Joseph F. Smith.["]
Elder Joseph J. Cannon called at the President's Office having returned home from his mission in company with President Francis M. Lyman.
