The clerk read a letter from Platte D. Lyman in which he stated that he had received a letter from the president [Arnold H. Schulthess] of the German Mission, saying the elders were having trouble in Hamburg, being persecuted by the authorities, who had made an effort to get possession of church records. They, however, failed as the records had been removed to Berlin....
